BENTON (WSIL) -- This week's wicked Awesome kid stood out for having a really cool interest�.an interest you wouldn't expect from most 7 year-olds.
Meet Jareth Silliman.
He recently received an honorary Mining and Reclamation permit from the City of Benton to mine coal in his back yard.
Jareth is an inquisitive kid. Spotted an old wooden shanty on the property and it was there he discovered chunks of coal.
Over the last few months he has extracted probably three hundred pounds of lump coal.
A buyer gave him $10 for a wheel barrel of lump coal.
The city of Benton has been a good sport and the mayor issued him 10 business cards and signed his permit.
That young man is certainly a Wicked Awesome Kid.
