Bi-County Health reports 1st COVID-19 death

MARION (WSIL) -- Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department has reported its first COVID-19 related death.

Bi-County Health says the death is that of a Williamson County man in his 60s who "has been tied to an outbreak at a workplace outside of Williamson County."

“It is with much sadness that we must report what we had hoped would not come to our county; the death of our first resident with COVID-19 ,� said Carrie Eldridge, Bi-County's Director of Emergency Preparedness. “We at Bi-County realize what a difficult time this is for the family of the deceased and join them in the mourning of his passing. Our hearts go out to all those who are suffering from this disease.�

In addition to the death, the health department also announced four new cases of COVID-19 in Williamson County Wednesday.

  • A female in her teens
  • A male in his twenties
  • A female in her 40s
  • A female in her 50s

All of the individuals are being placed in isolation.

To date, there have been 41 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Williamson County and 10 confirmed cases in Franklin County. Of the positive cases, 18 have recovered in Williamson County and 5 have recovered in Franklin County.
