(WSIL) -- While we continue adjusting to lifestyle changes amid the coronavirus outbreak, there are also efforts to keep some things as normal as possible.

A couple from Carlyle still held their wedding this weekend, even if it was a little different.

Emily Hatfield and Ryan Johnson were married Saturday, as friends and family watched live over Zoom.

While the wedding took place at a family member's home, they still had dozens of guests watching, and an official was there to help them tie the knot.

The couple became engaged over a year ago, and had been planning ever since. Hatfield said the change was a lot to take in.

"It was a big shock when we had to find out three weeks before that we had to reschedule the whole thing," Hatfield said.

Both Hatfield and Johnson said they wanted to keep the date, because it fell near their five year anniversary. So they decided to go digital.

"We wanted to find a way to let the rest of our extended family and our wedding party be a part of it. So we just decided to make a Zoom meeting, and everyone can just join in on our day," explained Hatfield.

The couple are now happily married and say they are talking about a possible ceremony and reception at a later date.
