CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago officials have ordered all people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 or showing symptoms of the disease caused by it to stay indoors.
The order issued Thursday formalized previous advice seeking to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
The Chicago Department of Public Health said patients cannot leave their homes, go to work or visit any group setting except to seek medical care and "life sustaining needs" including medicine or food.
Anyone who violates the order could be cited by health officials or the Chicago Police Department.
Illinois officials on Wednesday reported that 288 residents have tested positive for COVID-19.
