MARION (WSIL) -- Heartland Regional Medical Center can can now perform up to 60 COVID-19 tests per day.
The hospital and express care have been named designated testing sites by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Along with the increased number of tests, the medical center says they can receive test results in just 48 hours.
Individuals will still need to meet certain requirements before getting tested.
"The state labs have really opened up their access they have manned them to where they're operating 24 hours now and the tests, as they're going out, we're getting them back 24 to 48 hours. This week alone I've counted less than a 24 hour turn around time most of this week, which has been fantastic. So now getting that result back in the 24 to 48 hour time period, it really is helping patients get back to the workforce and with their family members," said Dr. Jodi Bryant.
The changes will allow Heartland to prioritize critical infrastructure workers, healthcare workers, and first responders for testing.
