IDPH: 2,887 new cases of COVID-19

SPRINGFIELD (WSIL) � The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has announced 2,887 new cases of COVID-19, including 130 additional deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 73,760 cases, including 3,241 deaths, in 98 counties in the state.

On Friday, Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health reported one new case of COVID-19 in Williamson County.

The health department said a man in his 50s has tested positive and is being placed in isolation.

To date, there have been 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Williamson County and 10 cases in Franklin County. Of the positive cases, 30 have recovered in Williamson County and 8 have recovered in Franklin County.

The Jackson County Health Department also announced four new COVID-19 cases in its county.

Health officials said one woman in her 30s, two men in their 20s and one man in his 30s are being placed in isolation.

There have been 162 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 10 deaths in Jackson County. Eighty-six of the positive individuals have now been released from isolation.
