HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- A senior assisted living community in Herrin will be in the first wave of Illinoisans to get the COVID-19 Vaccine.
Herrin Walgreens contacted The Villas of Holly Brook Herrin Assisted Living Community with a letter offering them the opportunity to partner with them.
Executive Director Howard Saver said he is not sure when the vaccine will begin being administered, but he said his center is in the first wave because of what type of community they are.
"We are very excited and optimistic about having the option to get the vaccine. All of the decisions that were made, were made in favor of serving this type of population first," said Saver.
Health care professionals who work in hospitals, staff in nursing homes, and long-term care facilities, and all vulnerable people are considered eligible for the first wave of vaccinations.
