Man dies in Jackson County from COVID-19, more new cases reported

(WSIL) -- A man in his 80s has died from COVID-19 after previously testing positive in Jackson County.

He becomes the fifth death in the county since the pandemic began.

The Jackson County Health Department also reports a new case of COVID-19. A woman in her 20s is now isolated after coming in contact with another patient who had the virus.

Jackson County has had 43 confirmed cases.

Williamson County is reporting new cases of the virus as well.

According to the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department the three new cases of COVID-19 include the following:

  • A male in his teens from Williamson county, likely acquired through the correctional facility setting. He is home in isolation.
  • A male in his 20’s from Williamson county, likely acquired through community spread. He is home in isolation.
  • A female in her 50’s from Williamson county, likely acquired through community spread. She is also at home in isolation.

Williamson County has now had 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Six of those individuals have recovered.
