New COVID-19 cases, deaths reported in southern Illinois

(WSIL) -- Nearly two dozen new COVID-19 cases and two deaths were reported Thursday in southern Illinois.

The Jackson County Health Department announced 14 new cases of COVID-19, as well as two deaths. The health department says a man and woman, each in their 80s, who were previously confirmed to have COVID-19 passed away.

According to the health department, the 14 new cases include:

  • Females â€� One pre-teen/teen, two in their twenties, two in their thirties, two in their forties, and two in their fifties;
  • Males â€� One infant, two in their thirties, one in his forties, and one in his sixties.

All are being placed in isolation. The health department says most of the positive COVID-19 cases this past week are "tied to outbreaks at workplaces outside of Jackson County."

There have been 112 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and nine deaths in Jackson County. 38 of those that tested positive have now been released from isolation.

The Jefferson County Health Department and Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department each announced two new cases Thursday.

The Jefferson County Health Department says two women, one in her 40s and one in her 50s, have tested positive. Each is currently in isolation.

To date, there have been 87 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County, including 11 deaths. Of the positive cases, 41 have now been released from isolation.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health says its two new cases are in Williamson County.

The health department says a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s are each at home and in isolation.

As of Thursday, there have been 32 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Williamson County and 9 confirmed cases in Franklin County. Of these, 13 have recovered in Williamson County and 5 have recovered in Franklin County.

¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Seven Health Department also reported five new cases in its region:

  • Two women, both in their 50s, from Union County
  • Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 40s, from Union County
  • One man in his 40s from Pulaski County

There have been 45 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Seven Health Department region.

In Perry County, three new cases were reported. The Perry County Health Department says a man in his 60s and two women, one in her 30s and one in her 40s, have tested positive.

The health department says there have now been 23 confirmed cases. 237 residents have tested negative.

The (IDPH) announced Thursday 2,563 new cases of COVID-19, including 141 additional deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 52,918 cases, including 2,355 deaths, in 97 counties in Illinois.
