(WSIL) -- The "stay at home" order has many yearning for some outdoor fun. That desire is creating a uptick for some local businesses.

While some businesses are struggling due to COVID-19, companies like Pool Co in Carbondale are staying afloat.

"Business is just about as normal as possible. It's a little different 'cause the phone is definitely ringing more often than people coming in," said owner Sonnia Stone.

The business is making sure they follow social distancing orders.

"They can either set up an appointment to come in the store, we can bring their products out to them, we've even offered delivery for some customers that are close enough who don't want to get out," said Stone.

Aloha Pools and Spa in Marion is adjusting to being a new business in town.

"Well, I think we're all taking everything a day at a time. As far as us locating in Marion, I've been very encouraged by people saying, 'I can't believe you haven't done it earlier' or 'I'm so glad that there's an Aloha in Marion," said co-owner Brad Cook.

Both companies say it's a great time to get your pool ready.

"Since we're having a comfortably warm April, I think it's a good idea to go ahead and get the pool open," said Cook.

Health experts say pools can carry bacteria and viruses if not properly maintained.

"Any pool that goes untreated without proper sanitizer levels can carry a numerous amount of bacteria. The CDC has came out and said that the covid virus can be killed and can't spread in a properly maintained pool or spa," said Stone.

For now, both businesses say they are ready to help with your pools.

"Basically what we're trying to do is leave people safe and healthy with safe and healthy water," said Cook.

Pool Co is scheduled to host a Facebook Live event this Saturday at 11 a.m. to help people take care of their pool.
