Randolph County reports its 8th virus-positive resident to pass away

(WSIL) -- Health departments in southern Illinois are reporting 63 new cases of the virus Sunday, and an additional resident to pass away in Randolph County.

Franklin County:

  • Females: One teenager, one in their 20’s, and one in their 60’s.
  • Males: One in their 60’s.

To date, there have been a total 288 laboratory confirmed positives in Franklin county of COVID-19 including one death related to the virus. Of these positive cases, 174 have recovered in Franklin county.

Jackson County:

  •  Females: Two teens, and one in 20's.
  • Males: one in 20's, two in 30's, and one in 90's.

According to health officials, there have been 848 confirmed cases in Jackson County to date, including 20 related deaths. Health officials add that seven individuals were released from isolation Sunday, bringing total released to 749. Currently, 79 active cases are being managed.

Randolph County:

  • 22 new cases - no details on age or gender

According to the health department, there have been 652 lab confirmed positives in county including eight people who have passed away. Of these positive cases, 510 have been released from isolation. Currently, 134 cases remain active with 132 people are recovering at home and two are recovering in the hospital.

Saline County:

  • Females: One in her 40's and one in her 60's.

To date, Saline County has had a total of 154 lab confirmed positives, including three deaths.

White County:

  • Females: One in her 70's and one in her 80's.
  • Males: One in his teens and one in his 70's.

According to the Egyptian Health Department, White County has had a total of 112 lab-confirmed positives.

Williamson County:

  • Females: Three teenagers, one in their 20’s, four in their 30’s, three in their 40’s, one in their 50’s and one in their 80’s.
  • Males: Males: One teenager, one in their 20’s, one in their 30’s, five in their 40’s, and three in their 50’s.

To date, there have been a total of 733 laboratory confirmed positives in Williamson county including nine deaths related to the virus. Of these positive cases, 375 have recovered in Williamson county.

Illinois Department of Public Health:

The Illinois Department of public health is confirming 1, 893 new cases of the virus Sunday. These new cases bring the state to 220,178 total cases.

Health officials also confirming an additional 6 fatalities, putting the state death toll at 7,880 lives lost.

The positivity rate among those tested from August 16- August 22 is 4.2%.
