ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- Schools in Illinois hope to get back to normal after decreased enrollment during the pandemic.
was just signed and says schools can use their enrollment numbers from the 2019-2020 school year to represent this current school year.
That comes into play with funding for school districts.
West Frankfort Superintendent Matt Donkin says this bill will help a lot of schools.
"It helps ease the potential burden that would happen initially where you would lose funding because we plan for x-number of students. Our goal is to get back up to that number of students and beyond so I think this is a good accommodation that needed to be done temporarily before we get back to normal," he says.
The bill takes effect immediately. It applies to the 2022 through 2024 fiscal years.
