(CNN) -- Tuesday was the last day of revelry before lent for the Christians who celebrate, but in 2021 Mardi Gras in New Orleans didn't look like it usually does.
Bourbon Street was practically a ghost town compared to any other year, when it's packed full of parades, parties and pageantry.
City officials definitely did not want the holiday turning into a COVID-19 super-spreader event.
Added to that, temperatures have been cold.
Locals are still celebrating though by decorating their houses, which they are calling "Yardi Gras."
