(CNN) -- Will people need a COVID-19 booster? The answer depends on who you ask and where you live.
It's a hot topic right now, considering this week marks seven months since the first American outside of a trial got vaccinated.
Hundreds of millions of Americans have rolled up their sleeves since then, with more than 56 percent of people 12 and up fully vaccinated.
After Israel released data showing a "marked decline" in its effectiveness, from more than 90% down to about 64%, as the Delta variant spreads.
Now people in Israel who are immunocompromised will be able to get a third dose of Pfizer's vaccine and the U.S. Recently announced it might offer boosters too.
But the CDC and the FDA say "Americans who have been fully vaccinated do not need a booster shot at this time."
"That doesn't mean we stop there, we continue. There are studies ongoing as we speak about looking at the feasibility about if and when we should be boosting people," said Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Fauci says, even though the FDA and CDC say boosters aren't necessary now, that could change as more data becomes available.
