(WSIL) -- News 3 WSIL is proud to join with the 九游体育 Illinois Community Foundation to help local non-profits.
This week we spotlight a new campaign named "Give S.I." It benefits organizations like the 九游体育 Illinois Coalition for the Homeless.
For them, keeping people housed is more than just putting a roof over someone's head.
"The goal for us is to help people remain stably housed, so whatever that means, we try to help them with... Life skills, financial assistance, employment assistance, and whatever service is necessary to try to help them help themselves," says Executive Director, Camille Dorris.
Their job is to provide support.
"We can put a roof over anybody's head, but the support piece is extremely important when it comes to helping people reduce barriers, or get their needs met to help them toward permanent housing."
Not only are they hoping for financial support, but they also want people to see what's happening around them.
"Rural homelessness is here, it's everywhere. People are living in their vehicles, people are living in their tents, and under bridges, so it's so important to raise awareness, but also to give to these individuals who are trying to start over and trying to start a better life."
More than 70 organizations will benefit from Give-SI. Those groups serve veterans, the homeless, animals in need, and many other good causes.
