MARION (WSIL) -- There are homeless pets all across our region waiting for their 'Furever Homes' and a furry friend has become another shelter success story.
Finding Forever Animal Rescue's longest resident, 5-month-old Ruby, has found her 'Furever Home' after spending more than two months at the shelter.
"She came to us as a stray when she was a kitten. She was really shy and nervous at first. It took her awhile to kind of come around to us and like attention and like to play," says Executive Director Becca Baird.
It took Ruby time to warm up to people, but the shelter says her personality started to shine.
"Anything that moves. The other cats, she loves romping and playing with them. The little jingly toys. Anything that she can get her paws on and then she likes to sit and cuddle when she's tired," says Baird.
Baird says Ruby seemed to get along with everyone. "She's been great with everybody. Kids come in here. If they have a toy in their hand she has no problems with them whatsoever and as long as the dog kind of gave her, her space at first I don't think she'd have any issues."
Ruby ended her streak as the longest resident at Finding Forever Tuesday, after being adopted.
Baird says while Ruby is now unavailable, there are still plenty of other animals looking for homes.
