California woman dies in southern Illinois car crash

JOHNSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- A woman from California passes away in a single-vehicle crash. 

According to Illinois State Police (ISP), it happened on I-24 in the westbound lanes at milepost 16.5 around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16th. 

A preliminary investigation indicates the 25-year-old woman from Pomona, California lost control in a 2014 Silver Nissan Sentra while entering the construction zone.

She hit a tree on the drivers side of the car and was pronounced dead on scene.
