Businesses work together to increase sales

JACKSON CO. (WSIL) --COVID-19 is wreaking havoc on small businesses, but many want you to know they're still open and ready to serve even if it means curbside, drive-up or delivery.

The stay at home order has left resturants with empty tables and wineries with empty decks forcing them to be a bit creative when it comes to business.

"We just make sales right from the deck outside, or we can even bring the wine and the tablet to people's cars so they don't even have to leave their cars if they don't want," said Severin Presswood, partner at Hickory Ridge Vineyard.

Hickory Ridge Vineyard is not only using carry-out as an option but also partnering with the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail for the Grape Escape Wine Sale.

"Customers are able to order through the week and then they pick up either at, I think it's Blue Sky or Kite Hill on Saturdays, so it's a convenient location for customers," explained Sylvia Presswood with Hickory Ridge Vineyard.

The Grape Escape allows customers to order their favorite wines from nine different vineyards and pick them up in one location. They're not the only ones switching things up though.

"The way we have pivoted our business recently is creating 17th Street and Friends, and we've tried to figure out how to get BBQ to people," said Amy Mills, co-owner of 17th Street Barbeque.

Mills is changing things up by offering "Family Fun Packs," food from multiple businesses in the area, at one pick up location.

"We include items from Rule of Pie, Scratch Brewery, Big Muddy Brewery, Rendleman Orchard, Mileur Orchard, Big Muddy Hogs in Hurst, so we're trying to partner with some local businesses and really give people a taste of ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois."
