BENTON, Ill. -- A boil water order was been issued to more than a dozen communities after a water main break in Benton, Illinois, earlier this week. Since then, several communities on Wednesday stated they have lifted the order.
The Rend Lake Conservancy District (RLCD) earlier stated the water main break occurred on Sunday. The leak was reportedly found in Benton on the water transmission line which serves multiple communities in Franklin and Perry counties.
The communities which have lifted the boil water order are as follows...

- Christopher/North City
- Tamaroa
- Du Quoin
- Royalton
- Hurst
- Bush
- Zeigler/Cleburne
- Colp
- Valier
- Greenwood Creek-Nation Water System

Water customers should bring tap water to a boil for five minutes before consumption, Rend Lake Conservancy District stated.
