4 people shot in Poplar Bluff; Suspect in custody

POPLAR BLUFF (WSIL) -- Multiple people are recovering in a hospital after two shooting incidents in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

On Thursday, May 13, Poplar Bluff officers responded to the area of Selma and Lois St. around 10:45 p.m. for reports of shots fired. Police learned two people had been shot and taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Both are in stable condition.

Around 6:45 a.m. Friday morning officers responded to another report of shots fired, this incident in the 1100 Block of Fairmount Street. Officers learned two more people had been shot and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both of those victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.

While on scene Friday morning, officers arrested the suspected shooter, which was later determined to be the suspected shooter from the first incident.

The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Dexter Dennis of Poplar Bluff.  Dennis is currently lodged in the Butler County Justice Center. Charges are being sought for Assault 1st, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.Â
