ELDORADO (WSIL) -- The life of Chase Mitchell will be remembered with a candlelight vigil Monday night.
Mitchell, who is from Eldorado, .
His family, friends and volunteers held search parties and put up posters about his disappearance throughout southern Illinois.
Investigators and believe that he was murdered.
Now, a candlelight vigil is being held at Mahoney Park to reflect back on his life. The event is being organized by Sandy Bonilla, who is a family friend and has known Mitchell since he was a child.
"There's going to be a lot of prayers, a lot of tears and the community coming together as one for Chase Mitchell," she says.
She says it will also help to bring peace and comfort to the family, who has been having Bonilla act as their spokesperson during this difficult time.
"Bringing hope back to the family; bring love to the family," she explains. "Bringing comfort to the family and bringing peace to the community."

Speakers will include Pastor Lisa Knight with The Church of New Beginnings. Bonilla says Knight also knew Mitchell personally through Coleman Tr-County Services, which has multiple programs for locals with disabilities.
Search volunteers and Gia Wright from the Missing Persons Awareness Network will also be in attendance.
"A big 'thank you' to all the loyal volunteers that stood out this whole entire time helping to pass flyers," Bonilla says. "They will all be here as well."
Around 200 candles and purple ribbons will be provided at the event, as well as, a box to write memories of Mitchell and condolences to the family.
The vigil is scheduled to start at 8 p.m., Monday, June 15th at Mahoney Park in Eldorado.
