CARBONDALE, Ill. -- One person is in jail after being accused of stabbing another person multiple times during a dispute in Carbondale.
Carbondale Police Department said the incident happened on February 21 at 12:07 a.m. Officers went to the 900-block of East Park Street where they had a report of a battery taking place.
Once on scene, officers found a victim with multiple stab wounds, Carbondale police said. Officers then helped give aid to the victim until an ambulance got to the scene. The ambulance then took the victim to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Police said the victim had serious injuries.
Officers also said Cody W. Simon, 21 of Carbondale, is the suspect and he is accused of stabbing the victim during a personal dispute and then left the area before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Later in the day, around 11:13 a.m., Simon was found at a home in the 700-block of South Wall Street, according to police. Simon was then arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
Simons faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
