MAYFIELD, Ky. (WSIL) -- A man is in custody after authorities said he became physical towards a deputy when walking in traffic.

The deputy used a taser against the suspect, according to authorities, however, they said it had no effect on him. After this, the sheriff's office said multiple people who witnessed what happened, then helped the deputy gain control of the suspect and then took him into custody.
The sheriff's office said the deputy had minor facial injuries and had damage to a handheld radio which the suspect threw.
"We would like to sincerely thank those that stopped to assist the deputy as that assistance likely prevented more injury to the deputy and possibly the suspect," the Graves County Sheriff's Office stated.
The Mayfield Police Department also helped with the matter.
