MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- A 36-year-old DeSoto man was found guilty on charges relating to an investigation where someone was hit and injured in Carbondale in May earlier this year.
The announcement came on August 20, 2024, when the Jackson County State's Attorney Joseph Cervantez stated Blake A. Jennings, 36 of DeSoto, was found guilty by a jury in a Jackson County courtroom of three charges. Those charges were Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Battery and Resisting a Peace Officer.
Cervantez detailed the incident which was said to have happened on May 26, 2024. Officers responded to the 1200-block of E. Grand for a report of someone hitting a male and causing an injury. After a description was reportedly given to police, Cervantez reported they then found Jennings and arrested him. Jennings also reportedly resisted arrest and knives were also in his possession.

I am also thankful to the staff and attorneys in my office for successfully prosecuting this offender.鈥�
According to online court records, Jennings is due back in court for a sentence hearing on November 21, 2024.
