Illinois man faces multiple charges after law enforcement said he led them on a pursuit

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- An Illinois man faces multiple charges after law enforcement says he led them on a pursuit in western Kentucky.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said on April 7, one of their deputies tried to pull over a silver Hyundai Sonata along Park Avenue due to not having tail lights.

The sheriff's office said the driver didn't stop and fled in the vehicle. At around North 10th Street, the driver then got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot for a brief time before he was captured, authorities detailed.

The sheriff's office said while the suspect was running away on foot, he threw a backpack onto the roof of a home.

Lamar Tyson, 30 of Metropolis, was identified as the suspect. The sheriff's office said Tyson had 7 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession as well.

Tyson was cited with the following charges...

  • No Tail Lamps
  • Reckless Driving
  • Speeding 26 MPH or > Speed Limit
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (On Foot)
  • Operating on Sus or Rev Oper License
  • Traf in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz) 2nd
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • 3 warrants for Traff in Cont Sub 2nd Off (Carfentanil or Fentanyl), Failure to Appear and Parole Violations.

Tyson was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
