Man Charged for illegal gun possession, found in company of Cape Girardeau High School Graduation shooting suspects

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- A man faces a charge for illegal gun possession out of Cape Girardeau. He also happened to be in a car with two suspects police believe were involved in Sunday's shooting at a Cape Girardeau high school graduation at the Show-Me Center.

The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad updated the public on Wednesday, stating Andra D. Jennings, Jr., 34 of Louisville, Kentucky, was pulled over in a traffic stop at 4 p.m. on May 20. Jennings was with three other individuals in the vehicle, which include Kris E. Owens, Christopher Owens and another person.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department earlier said the prosecuting attorney's office in Cape Girardeau County charged Kris E. Owens, 20 of Cape Girardeau, with a Class A felony of Assault in the first degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, in regards to the shooting at the Show-Me-Center on May 19.

In the earlier news release, police said the prosecuting attorney's office also charged Christopher J. Owens, 41 of Cape Girardeau, with a Class A misdemeanor of Loitering within 500 feet of School Property as a registered sex offender.

Andra Jennings was taken in custody at the time of the traffic stop as police said he was in possession of a black Taurus 709 Slim 9mm firearm.

Jennings is reportedly a convicted felon and is prohibited from having a firearm. He was charged with an Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with a $25,000 bond.

Kris Owens was earlier reported to have a no bond warrant while Christopher Owens was given a $25,000 bond.

Police earlier said the prosecuting attorney's office declined to file charges on the person of interest in custody. This is pending further investigation into person's possible involvement.

Two victims were taken to a local hospital.
