SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- A man is in jail on a murder charge after police said they located a body in a home in Scott City.
The Scott City Police Department, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol (DDCC) and the Scott County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the death of an elderly female.
Scott City Police Chief Christopher Griggs said as part of a narcotics investigation, a man by the name of Donald Harris, was alleged to have told officers he had "killed" someone for disrespecting his wife. Police also stated Harris reported to them he took pills from the victim as well.
Harris allegedly told authorities about a death of an elderly female at a home.
Officers responded to the home. Police said they found a victim. Police reported the woman had trauma to her head and facial area and found a large wooden walking stick with blood on it near the victim.
Harris was taken to the Scott County Jail. The jail's website states he was arrested on May 26 and faces charges of Murder 1st Degree, Delivery of Possession of a Controlled Substance at County/Private Jail Except with a Written Prescription and Armed Criminal Action.
