PADUCAH (WSIL) -- The Paducah Police Department is training its supervisors and preparing to utilize a new tool in its fight against crime.
The BolaWrap discharges a Kevlar cord that will travel 10-25 feet and wrap itself around a resisting subject’s ankles, for example, and restrain the subject without the use of higher levels of force.
The police department has purchased the “remote restraint� system in an effort to provide officers another means of restraining people, especially those in mental crisis, without using pain to gain compliance.
