...Severe Weather Risk Today...

Thunderstorms have developed in southwest Missouri ahead of a cold
front and are steadily moving east. This activity is expected to
encounter increasingly favorable conditions for the development of
tornadoes and damaging winds as it moves east into the region
later today. Strong tornadoes are possible as well as significant
damaging wind.

While the risk of a tornado at any one spot is always low, it will
be prudent to have a plan and a way to quickly access adequate
shelter as this activity moves in. React quickly to warnings as
the average time between a warning and tornado development on
events like this can be as low as 5 to 10 minutes.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ THIS
MORNING TO MIDNIGHT CDT /1 AM EDT/ TONIGHT...

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ this morning to midnight CDT /1 AM
EDT/ tonight.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Secure outdoor objects.

.Historically high forecast rainfall amounts will create a
particularly dangerous situation with respect to the risk of flash
flooding and flooding this afternoon through Sunday.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM CDT /2 PM EDT/ THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding and flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. Preliminary projections of up to 1 foot of total
rainfall over parts of the area is not out of the question.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 1 PM CDT  /2 PM EDT/ this afternoon through Sunday
morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water
crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall over several days
will result in extreme forecast amounts of up to 1 foot of
rain that will cause the risk of flash flooding and flooding
to rise markedly and create a particularly dangerous flooding
situation.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

Reward offered for information in 2019 homicide of Tamms man

TAMMS (WSIL) -- Illinois State Police are looking for information in the 2019 death of Larry L. McNelly.

On September 11, 2019 ISP Zone 7 Investigations was notified of a house fire in rural Tamms. Police learned the home owner and sole occupant, McNelly, had not been heard from, nor was he located at the scene.

On September 16, 2019 McNelly's body was recovered from the Mississippi River in Tennessee. The case is being investigated as a homicide.

The family of Larry McNelly is seeking information and is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of Larry McNelly.
