Three Face Charges After Police Respond to Burglary Report

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Three people face charges after police respond to a report of a burglary.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department said the incident took place on June 30. At around 2 a.m., Cape Girardeau officers responded to the 400-block of S. Spring Street for a report of a burglary in progress.

Once officers got to the scene, they found there were three people inside the laundry area. Cape Girardeau police said those three people were identified as Christian Lewis-Smith, 33, Celeste Moreno, 29, and Zachary Tackett, 27, all of which are from Cape Girardeau.

Officers started investigating the scene and found a grinder, bag of quarters and found several washing machines were damaged with coins removed, according to Cape Girardeau police. 

Police also said they found what they suspect was illegal narcotics.

According to Cape Girardeau police, the three individuals now face charges relating to this incident. They are as follows...

Christian Lewis Smith

  • Burglary - 2nd degree
  • Possession of controlled substance
  • Property damage

Zachary Tackett

  • Burglary - 2nd degree
  • Property damage

Celeste Moreno

  • Burglary - 2nd degree
