Two arrested after traffic stop in Christopher

CHRISTOPHER, Ill. (WSIL) -- Two people faces charges after a traffic stop in Christopher over the weekend.

The Christopher Police Department said one of their officers saw a vehicle committing multiple traffic violations and nearly caused an traffic accident. The officer then pulled over the vehicle.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Dalexis Ransom, 22 of Benton, Illinois, and the passenger as Marshun Johnson, 21 of Benton, Illinois.

Both Ransom and Johnson had active arrest warrants, police said. After the searching the vehicle, law enforcement said they found a large amount of marijuana and a loaded gun.

Dalexis Ransom

  • Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Yield at an Intersection
  • Suspended Registration
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
  • Violation of the Cannabis Control Act

Marshun Johnson

  • Obstructing Identification
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon

They were both taken to the Franklin County Jail.
