CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) -- A new aviation program is coming to Cairo next month.

A local organization is bringing the new program to Cairo to educate and help prepare students for a career in aviation.

The Harold S Jones Fine Arts Center is introducing their Aviation Industry Workshop. This workshop is designed to introduce high school students to jobs in the airline industry, which includes pilots for helicopters, aircrafts, drones, also jobs for flight attendants, aircraft and airport maintenance and more.

The workshop will focus on engaging students inside the classroom and at a local airport with aircrafts and industry professionals on hand.

The Harold S Jones Fine Arts Center breaks down the Aviation Workshop with two sessions. The first session will be with instructors and speakers to discuss the various airline related jobs, along with sharing personal journeys they've experienced.

The second session will be at the Cairo Regional Airport where a professional pilot will be on hand. There will also be an airplane and a helicopter at the airport available for tours for the students.

A drone demonstration will also be part of the educational program as well.

The Harold S Jones Fine Arts Center will be providing the workshop at no cost for area high school students. Snacks will also be provided and transportation will be available for students after the workshop.

The workshop is scheduled for November 13, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
