Goreville Superintendent elected to national School Superintendents Assoc. executive committee

GOREVILLE (WSIL) -- Dr. Steve Webb, superintendent of the Goreville Community Unit School District 1, was elected to a three-year term on the executive committee of .

AASA serves as the nation’s premier organization for public school district leadership, representing thousands of school system leaders throughout the U.S.

The 22-member committee, elected by AASA’s governing board, represents each region of the country and portions of Canada.

The committee meets quarterly and conducts the ongoing business of the organization and its mission of advocating for children. Webb has been a member of AASA for more than 20 years and a member of AASA’s governing board since 2015. He has also been a member of the Illinois Association of the School Administrators (IASA) Board of Directors since 2006 where he was President in 2014.

“I cherish my experience as an AASA governing board member and see even greater responsibility and opportunity as a member of the AASA executive committee on behalf of the school district leaders, staff and students across the country, and most notably, those in my region,� said Webb. “I am honored to serve on this committee. I view it as a global effort to make sure all voices are heard to carry out a united message of advocacy for our children and the generations to follow.�

The new executive committee members who will officially assume their new roles in July include:

  • Matthew Burrows, , Odessa, Del.
  • Tobin Novasio, , Lockwood, Mont.
  • Eric Runez, , DeForest, Wis.
  • Cosimo Tangorra, Jr., , Niskayuna, N.Y.
  • Dr. Steve Webb, , Goreville, Ill.

New executive committee members will serve a three-year term which starts effective July 1, 2021.
