(WSIL) -- WIC is making it easier to get healthy foods for families.
WIC is replacing their old vouchers with Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Cards, also called an eWIC card.
The cards work like debit cards as opposed to coupons, and allow users to buy food when needed, instead of having to buy food all at once.
The new cards now help with confidentiality and convenience.
"It's very confidential. It's easy for the store to follow the transaction and easier for the cashiers as well. So it's a program that benefits everybody who's involved," said Shawnna Rhine, community outreach coordinator for ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Seven Health Department.
For those already enrolled in WIC but still using vouchers, you can make the transfer to the EBT card now.
Rhine highlighted that WIC is a valuable resource for families that are dealing with difficult times.
"The important thing to remember is, you wanna continue to provide healthy, nutritious food for your family at all times."
