Helene will bring back widespread rain by Thursday evening

TOMORROW

CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- The first half of the day Thursday will be mostly dry. If you have any errands to run, or yardwork to finish ahead of the rain, that window is closing.

Thursday should be a fairly comfortable day, feeling like fall. High temperatures will top out near average, in the mid to upper 70s.

Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall Thursday along the Florida coast, as a Major Hurricane. The remnants will then make a turn to the northwest, bringing our region quite a bit of rain.

The rain will begin to move in from the east by Thursday evening, becoming more widespread overnight and through the day on Friday. Friday looks to be a "washout", and the wettest day.

RAIN

Scattered showers will continue through the weekend, tapering off a bit more each day. Rainfall totals continue to range between 2-4", with isolated higher amounts south. Totals gradually decrease to the northwest.

Friday and Saturday will also be breezy. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Use caution when driving in the rain and the winds.

The clouds and rain will keep temperatures comfortable, in the low to mid 70s each day.
