MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- The 37th Annual is just around the corner.
Amy Mills, with 17th Street Barbecue, announced the cook-off celebration to take place starting on September 19, through September 21.
The competition will bring in 100 teams for the competition, making it one of the largest fields of competitors.Â
“The 17th Street crew is ready to welcome a record field of competitors for our Cook-Off Weekend. My father Mike Mills originated this as an economic driver that would bring people to Murphysboro. Each year it grows in numbers and evolves in spirit,â€ said Amy Mills of 17th Street Barbeque. “This is our opportunity to showcase our town’s trademark hospitality and provide an opportunity for Murphysboro and ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois to shine. Each year our contest grows and evolves and I’m proud of and grateful for our team, community volunteers, and generous sponsors who make this event possible.â€
The teams in the competition are from 20 different states, all competing for the Grand Champion title, an entry into the Kansas City Royal, the Jack Daniels draw, and the World Steak Cook-off, along with a share of over $30,000 in record prize money.
