...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

.The Big Muddy River continues to rise due to heavy rain last week
and over the weekend. The river will crest on Thursday before
starting a very slow fall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

forecast.

- At 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 28.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 31.0
feet early Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
30.7 feet on 01/26/1949.

Contractors to make improvements to two roads in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- Crews will make improvements to two streets in Murphysboro after a contract was awarded to a local construction company.

The City of Murphysboro awarded a contract to Samron Midwest Contracting on Tuesday to improve Fiddler Ridge Road and Lake Forest Drive in Murphysboro.

The contract was for $196,000 and Mayor Will Stephens said work should start in the coming months with a completion date in the summer months.
