Lake of Egypt Water District water boil order lifted

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (WSIL) -- UPDATE: January 10, 1:48 p.m. - The boil water order has been lifted according to the Lake Egypt Water District.

UPDATE: January 9, 2:19 p.m. - The Lake Egypt Water District remains under a water boil order until further notice.

A spokesperson with the district said the original water main break has been fixed and they are now awaiting testing results.

Samples of the water have been sent out to be tested. The district said they are hopeful to have the test results back on Tuesday.

ORIGINAL STORY: A water main break has closed a large section of Lake of Egypt Road on Friday afternoon.

The Williamson County Highway Department reports the road is closed between the power plant and Pyramid Acres Marina.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes while the work is completed.

The road is closed until further notice.
