GRAND TOWER, Ill. (WSIL) -- One person is dead and another taken to jail after authorities respond to a report of a UTV crash in Grand Tower.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said they received information of a crash in the area of Front Street and 25th Avenue along the levee in Grand Tower at 11:56 p.m. on October 26.

The sheriff's office said a blue Honda UTV overturned on the levee and was driven by Rusty Huffman, 36 of Gorham, with three passengers, Kayle L. Clover, 29 of Gorham, Nicholas A. Bastien, 31 of Murphysboro and Sara N. Bolter, 38 of Murphysboro.

After the vehicle overturned, the sheriff's office said Bolter sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead by the Jackson County Coroner's Office at the scene.

Bastien was reported with injuries and taken to an area hospital by the Jackson County Ambulance Service.

The sheriff's office also said Huffman was also taken to an area hospital and was later released, but was then taken to the Jackson County Jail.

According to online court records, Huffman faces charges of Failure to Report a Crash Involving a Death, Aggravated DUI, Reckless Driving and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Huffman has a preliminary hearing set for November 26, at 1:15 p.m. at the Jackson County Courthouse.
