MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Authorities are urging you to stay safe on the roads with the first snowfall of the season in southern Illinois.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is reminding the public to stay warm and alert with the cold weather which has now settled in the area. They also urge motorists to slow down on the roads and drive safe.
The first bout of winter weather brought measurable snow to the northern counties in the southern Illinois region. This includes Jefferson County.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, many roads in Jefferson County are partly covered with ice or snow as of the early evening hours on November 30. More snow is expected to move through this area on Saturday night as well.
