CARBONDALE, Ill. -- UPDATE: 5:38 p.m. -- Phone and internet services are starting to come back online across portions of southern Illinois.

The WSIL News 3 station's phone and internet services were restored just before 5:30 p.m.

Other agencies and area businesses have said their services were restored as well.

We have multiple calls and messages in with Clearwave Fiber and will pass along more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: 3:31 p.m. -- Area sheriff's offices, businesses and other agencies are still dealing with internet and phone outages.

The sheriff's offices in Randolph, Williamson, Franklin and Jefferson Counties are all reporting phone outages.

The Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association (EECA) earlier reported internet and phone lines were down, stating the outage was from Clearwave on Monday afternoon.

News 3 has called Clearwave Fiber multiple times, however, we have not been able to talk to a representative as of 3:06 p.m.

Area school are also reporting issues. Marion Unit 2 School District stated to their school family members about the network outage.

"Unit #2 Family: Just a note to let you know that ClearWave currently has a major network outage. This outage has taken down all networks at all of our schools as well as the district office. In addition, phone service at all of our buildings has also been affected. Clearwave has not given an estimated time for restoration."

We called Williamson County Clerk Amanda Barnes who assured us voters will be able to vote, if the network outage extends through Tuesday for the General Election Primary in Illinois.

Barnes said polling places are offline. Counting ballots are also counted offline.

However, relaying election results could be delayed. Stick with News 3 as we will deliver election results throughout Illinois on Tuesday night.
