Reported stolen vehicle found on fire in Williamson County

MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Authorities said they found a stolen vehicle on fire in Williamson County on Friday.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said their deputies responded to the 10000-block of Decatur Road on December 27, at 4:11 a.m. for a vehicle on fire.

Williamson County firefighters also responded to the scene and put out the fire.

The sheriff’s office said the vehicle was a 2018 Chrysler 300 which appeared to have been abandoned. They also said the vehicle was reported stolen out of Marion.

“This remains an ongoing investigation and we are asking for the public’s assistance in providing information concerning this case.�, stated Sheriff Jeff Diederich.

The Marion Police Department and Williamson County Fire assisted the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office with the call.
