Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Plumfield and Murphysboro.

.Levels on the Big Muddy River will continue to drop, falling below
flood stage at Plumfield Sunday, and at Murphysboro Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

- At 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 25.2 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday was 25.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Sunday evening and continue falling to 18.4 feet

- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
25.2 feet on 03/30/1977.

Some campgrounds remain open at Rend Lake into November, some to close at end of October

INA, Ill. -- A popular recreation spot in southern Illinois is welcoming campers to come out and enjoy the outdoors this fall.

The is alerting the public there are only a few weekends left to enjoy the great weather outdoors while camping at their facility.

The Buck Ridge and Covey Point (65-100) in South Marcum will remain open until November 6, while Gun Creek Campground is open through November 20.

North Sandusky and South Sandusky is scheduled to close on October 30. Covey Point (101-129), Owls Roost and Whispering Pines Loops in South Marcum is scheduled to close on October 30 as well.
