MOUND CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- County officials are calling for volunteers to help fill sandbags as the Ohio River continues to rise.
The Pulaski County/Alexander County Joint Sandbag Filling Operation will start at the CGB (Consolidated Grain and Barge Co.) in Mound City on Monday, April 7.
The timing of when this operation will start will be after the sandbagging equipment arrives from the US Army Corps of Engineers, according to the Pulaski County ESDA/EMA.
The operation will take place along the south end of the CGB near Main Street and Illinois Avenue in Mound City.
For those wanting to volunteer or those needing sandbags, can email [email protected] or call or text 618-303-0493.
Pulaski County officials said the sandbags will be used first for areas necessary for life safety and critical infrastructure protection.
