
JACKSON COUNTY, IL (WSIL) -- The Sheriff’s Office says it successfully conducted a traffic enforcement effort over Labor Day weekend.
Deputies stopped 35 drivers and issued a total of 32 enforcement citations. There were 11 seatbelt citations were issued, with two taking place during nighttime hours.
Other citations and arrests included:
- Eleven speeding
- Three uninsured motorists
- Two child safety restraints
- One distracted driving
- One Revoked driver’s license
- One Suspended Driver’s License
- Two Expired vehicle registration
- Two suspended motor vehicle registration.Â
This safety campaign comes in addition to regularly scheduled patrols. Sergeant Ronald Stanton explains more on what this campaign means.Â
“Through the Labor Day safety campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of impaired driving –‘It’s Not a Game,’� said Sgt. Stanton.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across the state for the Illinois Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over� and “Drive High. Get a DUI� campaign.
This effort was part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,� “Drive
High. Get a DUI� and “Click It or Ticket� initiatives, funded by federal highway
safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
