CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- John A. Logan College hosted a deployment for roughly 80 soldiers.
Families and friends came out to John A. Logan to honor the soldiers before they were deployed.
Jesse Koester was one of the soldiers being deployed. He explains the importance of the ceremony.
"It is very important, especially more for our families to show our appreciation for their support. We can‘t do what we can do it with out them," said Koester.
Officials from the event said they were grateful for the community's support.
The soldiers are part of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment, based out of Marion, Illinois.
The soldiers will head overseas for security operations in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
