MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. -- A 54-year-old woman in McCracken County was arrested for a theft charge after a report of more than $6,000 taken from a non-profit.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said on September 25, a complaint came in alleging a large amount of money was stolen from a local non-profit.

Members of this non-profit reported to detectives they believe a woman, identified as Christie Bell, 54 of Paducah, allegedly stole roughly $6,000.

The sheriff's office said they learned Christie Bell allegedly made multiple cash withdrawals totaling $6,255 between April and September 2023.

The sheriff's office also said the money which was reportedly stolen was not used for non-profit business. Instead, they claim it was used to purchase illicit drugs.

Bell was arrested on October 26. She faces a charge of theft by unlawful taking over $1,000.
