JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) 鈥� Police in Johnston City first responded to a home in the 700-block of west 5th Street for a shots fired report at 9:54 a.m. on February 2.
The Williamson County Sheriff鈥檚 Office said officers were on scene and residents were in the home when multiple rounds of gunfire hit their home. Officers also said the victims told them there were rounds coming from a neighboring home with damage to the exterior of the home.
Authorities said there were nearly two dozen exit holes in the victim鈥檚 home coming from a neighbors home.
Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff鈥檚 Office arrived on scene and set up a perimeter.
The sheriff鈥檚 office said a suspect barricaded himself inside a home and refused to come out.
The Williamson County Sheriff鈥檚 Office Special Response Team (SRT) was activated and responded as well.
At 11:53 a.m., the sheriff鈥檚 office said the suspect, identified as Shawn Rogers, surrendered and came out of the home.
At 1 p.m., members with the SRT served a search warrant on the suspects home.
The Williamson County Sheriff鈥檚 Office said the suspect discharged dozens of rounds inside his bedroom which traveled through the bedroom wall, through an adjoining sunroom, through the exterior wall and glass window before striking the neighbor鈥檚 home.聽
Investigators said one round was found in the victim鈥檚 bathroom shower.
The sheriff鈥檚 office said Rogers did not have a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card and was previously denied for one.
The sheriff鈥檚 office also said they found three guns from the home including a 10-22 rifle, .22 handgun, and a .410/.45 鈥渏udge鈥� revolver, along with magazines, a holster and rounds of ammunition which were entered into evidence.聽
The sheriff鈥檚 office said Rogers was cited for the following:
Possession of Firearm Without FOID (Class 3 Felony)
Reckless Discharge Of A Firearm (Class 4 Felony)
Criminal Damage To Property (Class 4 Felony)
Reckless Conduct (Class A Misdemeanor)
Rogers was then taken to the Williamson County Jail.聽
