STEELE, Mo. (WSIL) -- Four earthquakes were reported to hit the region in a five-day span recently.
The United State Geological Survey (USGS) reported the four quakes hitting in southeast Missouri and northwest Tennessee ranging from a magnitude of 1.5 up to 2.8.
On March 20, at 3:23 p.m., a 2.8 magnitude quake hit roughly 5 miles west-northwest of Dyersburg, Tennessee. This was at a depth of 6 miles. There were 27 reports of the quake being felt from the immediate area with the furthest report from Lawrenceville, Georgia, roughly 339 miles away.
On March 21, at 9:47 p.m., a 1.9 magnitude quake hit roughly 6 miles north of Tiptonville, Tennessee. This was measured at a depth of 4 miles.
On March 22, at 3:01 p.m., a 1.5 magnitude quake was measured at more than 5 miles south-southeast of Ridgley, Tennessee. This was measured at a depth of 4 miles.
On March 24, at 5:08 p.m., a magnitude 2.3 quake hit roughly 5 miles east-northeast of Steele. This was measured at a depth of 5 miles. There was one report of someone feeling the tremor from Kennett, roughly 18 miles away.
