New Madrid Chief of Police announces resignation

New Madrid Police Chief Shane Grissom resigning

NEW MADRID, Mo. (WSIL) � On Monday, April 28th, the New Madrid Police Department Chief Shane Grissom announced he'd be resigning from the position. 

Grissom says he will remain the New Madrid Fire Chief and serve as a part-time patrol officer. 

In a statement from the NMPD, Grissom says, "After careful thought and consideration, I have made this decision in the best interest of my family and myself. While I am stepping down from my role as Police Chief, I want to assure you that I am not stepping away from our community." 

Grissom's successor, Police Chief Jeremy David Green, was appointed to the new role Monday night.

The City of New Madrid says Green is a U.S. Army veteran and has served in various law enforcement positions for over 30 years. 

The city noted that it appreciates Chief Grissom's dedication and is grateful for his continued commitment as the New Madrid Fire Chief.
